Freshly baked koulouria, a Greek specialty

A bit about Greek cuisine

Sitting for thousands of years at the crossroads between mystical Orient and the West, right on the shores of the Mediterranean, Greece has a very rich and varied culinary tradition, thanks to its unique blend of influences. From the spices of the Silk Road to the richness of extra virgin olive oil, Italian finesse, and Turkish delights, our Athens food tour will take you to an unforgettable gastronomic adventure.

What we offer

Our Athens culinary walking tour is ranked as the No.1 Athens Food Tour on Tripadvisor, and got mentioned in The Independent, the Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Le Monde Magazine, and more! With this tour, you’ll have the chance to discover a different side of the city: You’ll join the locals in their everyday life – where food is king –, and you'll experience a tasty slice of pure modern Greek culture and delicious eating habits.

Our Athens Food Tour

We’ll guide you to carefully selected specialty food stores, where you’ll get a taste of some of the finest olive oil, cheese and honey available and local delicacies such as cured meat best known as “pastourma”.

Irresistible sweets

We’ll stroll through traditional, authentic neighbourhoods in the heart of Athens and visit some wonderful pastry shops serving all-time favourite Greek specialties. We’ll be immersed in the colors and smells of local spices, the secret behind many of the most renowned dishes of Greek cuisine, as well as aromatic Greek coffee - which you may have heard of as “Turkish” (but you didn't hear it from us).

What’s more, the irresistible smell of freshly baked delicacies will lead our steps into one of the oldest traditional bakeries of the city. Our Athens food tour will then continue through the bustling alleys of Varvakios, the picturesque fish, meat and vegetable market - the true "belly of Athens". Finally, our Athens culinary walking tour will take you at a local joint to feast on an authentic Greek souvlaki.
